Not Another Monthly Subscription

Nowadays, monthly subscriptions are everywhere, including where they shouldn't be. Why should you pay for a recurrent service if you only use a small part of it? With Hook2Email, we decided to do a simple, credit-based, pricing: 10$ for 5,000 emails. That means with an average of 14 emails per day, it would still cost less than 10$/year

Simple to setup. Simpler to use.

The reason why this product was created was because we couldn't find anything suitable for our needs. We wanted to get emailed when important events happened, to avoid missing them or catching them later. All the solutions we found were either too expensive, or too complex. Initially, this product was purely for internal use, but we decided it would likely benefit others, hence why we made it public.

Why you need an internal email notifier

Despite all other communications systems, email remains the most reliable. You can be sure that whoever needs to receive the notification has an email. Thanks to our internal settings, you can also easily avoid being spammed by emails, by setting a minimum delay between notifications.

Pricing

10 $ = 5000 emails

Yes, that's it.
No need for big pictures, complex schemes, or user-based subscription.
Credits have an expiration date of one year for legal purposes, but we will be very happy to move the leftovers over to the following year.

F.A.Q.

Can I customise the notification?

Yes, when creating a hook, you can define a subject and content template. In this template, you can add the following syntax: |example_variable| . When you make a request, if a parameter called "example_variable" is passed, it will be replaced in the template. The endpoint accepts POST and GET requests, for GET requests you should use query-string parameters to pass variables, and for POST you can use either JSON or www-url-form-encoded

How does it work?

The mechanism is simple:
1. Add and confirm your email
2. Create a hook, and pick one of your confirmed emails
3. A unique link will be created, such as /hook/12345-56768-9101/send
4. Send a notification as GET, POST, PUT, with whatever variable you want

Are there any rate limits?

There's a maximum of 1 email per second. That being said, this is only enforced at the sending stage. If you pass this limit, the notification will be delayed by 30 seconds and retried up to 5 times.

Can I force an interval between notifications of the same type?

Absolutely! This is a great feature especially in case of a notification which would likely repeat itself. For example, if you're setup a notification when a error is found in some logs, then this notification would be resent continuously until the error is fixed. With our solution, you can add a minimum interval of time between notifications.

Are notifications kept once they're sent?

Notifications are not kept after being sent, which means in theory the notifications have a life of less than a minute. There's an exception for failed notifications, which are kept for a maximum of 7 days during which you can manually check them from the dashboard. You will be informed when that happens.
